KCI Dress Project (11)

I was able to wear my dress at the Hyde Park Barrack's "Redcoats and Convicts" day yesterday in Sydney. As well as dancing every half hour I had a table in Merchants Row and sold white cotton bonnets.
My dress felt very comfortable with the following added features:
  • padded hem.
  • cartridge pleating the back skirt
I am still not sure if/when I will add the bodice slashing - maybe when I can find some matching silk taffeta as my blue fabric is very thick and heavy.

1840s Dance Display 22 October 2011

Yesterday we wore our 1840s dresses, and those who hadn't joined the busy sewing projects wore their regency gowns. The weather was very hot and sunny - its been a cool Spring so far so some of us were caught unawares. For the first time I was NOT sunburnt, but the heat took its toll on me.

If you would like to join our dance classes or book us to do a dance display at your next event, contact us on garden@earthlydelights.com.au or call us on (02) 6281-1098.

Olde English Christmas Carol Ball

To celebrate Jane Austen's 236th birthday the day before, on the 17 December 2011 we are holding an Olde English Christmas Carol Ball. A whole mixture of olde English dances will be called.
Everyone is welcome, no partners are necessary and you are asked to bring a plate of cold fingerfood for the mid-evening potluck supper.
Tickets are already on sale at http://edhda.eventbrite.com and if you are coming from interstate and need a place to stay, we can ask around for billets or you might find a good room at the nearby Canberra City YHA.
