I was cleaning up some of the tiny scraps of fabric from making the 1840s dress, thinking they were too small to use when I remembered crafts I used to sew when the children were babies. Out came my heart template and I made a heart lavender sachet using some of last summer's dried lavender. I found a piece of silk ribbon in my sewing basket long enough to make a 10cm long loop and bow.

What a beautiful little heart! And I know, you are right! We should all be better at using what we already have bought, even if just in small pieces. I especially think about this when I see people making quilts from fabric they bought specifically for that purpose. I've always thought that the idea of quilting was to use the scraps of fabric one already owns!
